About Us

A Vision for Change

New Destiny Center, Inc. was founded in 2007 as a non-profit, 501c3 organization by Derrick L. Murray because of a God-given vision. Having previous experience working with at-risk children and a background in law enforcement, the founder was inspired by God to do something in his community to make a difference. So he, along with his wife, reached out to other members of the community for help and five years later New Destiny Center opened the doors to it's Boy's Home in April of 2012. The program has since served hundreds of boys from counties across the state of South Carolina providing them with a safe, structured environment, services to get on the right track, reuniting them with family or connecting them with new forever families.

What Makes Us Different?

New Destiny Center offers children (boys) a family and a place to call home.  Because of our family atmosphere, we provide more individualized attention to our residents. Our devoted managers and dedicated staff members function as a close knit team and are personally involved in every aspect of a child's care, communicating with and including family members and case managers as often as possible. We take pride in spending time mentoring, coaching, re-directing when necessary, and providing interventions and services that promote positive behavior and outcomes. We also participate with the children in recreation, community outings and events, field trips and other activities to increase bonding and build relationships.

Our goal is for each child to be emotionally, physically, spiritually and mentally prepared to have a successful transition either back home with their family or to their new adoptive family.

It Takes A Village

At New Destiny Center, we believe in the old adage that "It Takes a Village to Raise a Child." We understand the importance of a child having a community of support and a sense of belonging. It takes all of us working together to make this happen.
